Dear beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
Some of you have joined Nativity in the past year. Welcome! You may know that we hope to start the renovation of our church this summer. Like a baby, it will take about nine months. During the renovation, Mass will be in the Parish Center. The Mass schedule will change starting May 12, 2025.
The church was built in 1984 and expanded in 1996. The renovation is the first in 30 years. It will
- Invite younger generations with a bright and open church entrance, an extended gallery with glass windows viewing into the nave, an expanded church goods store with a welcome desk, and handicap-accessible restrooms.
- Renew the assembly and altar area with updated carpet and tile, refinished pews, refreshed paint, new stained-glass windows, upgraded audio and visual technology, a new organ, and a prominent focus on the crucifix above the altar.
- Replace older mechanical items needing repair, such as the 30-year-old HVAC units, Fire Panel, and lighting system controls.
- Serve by tithing 10% of the collected campaign funds to another parish in need.
Thank you to the hundreds of families who made sacrificial pledges in Spring 2024. Thanks to your sacrifice, we hope to get to work a year ahead of schedule. This would mean big savings in rising construction costs and puts our funds to work now.
After Mass on May 4, we will sneak a preview of the improvements of the Parish Center. For those of you coming to the 11:30 a.m. Mass, please join me at the parish picnic for a cook-out and fellowship.
Blessed Easter!
Fr. David Scotchie
